Autumnal cheese-pumpkin fondue

Last weekend my family was visiting me and I wanted to prepare a nice autumnal barbecue menu as well as something special and at the same time a not too complicated dish. At the same time, it should be a practical dish for 6 people. Since autumn is pumpkin time, I chose a delicious and at the same time very simple pumpkin fondue.

You mix cheese and some other ingredients, fill it into the hollowed-out pumpkin and the delicious finger food is ready. You can experiment a little bit with the cheese. How to prepare the pumpkin fondue exactly, I will show you step by step in this recipe.

Ingredients for the Fondue

  • 1 Hokkaido pumpkin
  • 250 grams grated Gouda
  • 250 grams grated Emmental cheese
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 200ml white wine
  • 1EL Cornstarch
  • Paprika powder, pepper and salt
  • Bread for dipping

Preparation of the pumpkin-cheese fondue

1. First hollow out the pumpkin thoroughly. Then preheat the oven to 200°C and bake the pumpkin in it for about 20 minutes.

2. In the meantime, mix the grated cheese with the starch, some paprika powder, salt and pepper.

3. Peel and chop the onions and garlic. 

4. Now add the onions, garlic and white wine to the baked pumpkin and mix briefly. Now fill the cheese mixture into the pumpkin and mix all ingredients.

5. Now put the pumpkin again at 200°C for about 20 more minutes in the oven until the cheese is melted and nice and creamy. Maybe it takes a little longer. In between, stir the cheese a little bit.

6. Cut bread of your choice into bite-sized pieces and put them in the oven about 10 minutes before the end of the baking time to make the bread pieces nice and crispy. Serve everything together directly. Bon appetit ^^
