Indian Chai Tea – Recipe for milk tea with ginger

Such a nice cup of tea for breakfast or in the afternoon is wonderful. On the one hand, the tea in the tea has a waking effect, on the other hand, it is relaxing and easy to relax with a cup of tea or to talk with family and friends.

Since I grew up in the northwest of Germany, I am used to the typical East Frisian tea culture with milk and candy. Therefore an Indian Chai with milk and ginger is a wonderful addition for me. Pragya also didn’t quite believe at first that I like tea with milk because I drink my coffee black and in her opinion Germans tend to drink black or green tea.

If you want to tell about your own preferences regarding tea, you are welcome to do so in the comments 😉
Since the preparation of Indian Chai with ginger and milk is very easy, I would like to show you this little alternative to coffee and Co. in this article.

Preparation of the Indian ginger Chai

Admittedly, we are very comfortable with regard to the enjoyment of Chai and especially the preparation. Therefore we always use a ready-made spice chai directly from India, the internet, or the Indian supermarket in Düsseldorf.

1. Cut the piece of ginger into thin slices and boil them in a pot together with about a ¾ cup of water.

2. Next, add 1.5 tablespoons of the tea (and the other spices if necessary) and a cup of milk and let everything simmer for 6 minutes.

3. Shortly before the end of the cooking time adds still 2 coffee spoons of sugar and stirs again.

4. Now pour the milk tea through a sieve into a glass and you can enjoy the Indian ginger chai warm.

The typical tea cookies or, as an alternative to warm tea, the sweet, cooled Rasgulla balls are also suitable.

Indian Chai – My conclusion

A nice cup of chai is good for the soul and I really like to drink the Indian ginger chai, especially on weekends. It can more than keep up with my usual tea from East Frisia 😉

How are you doing? Are you rather tea or coffee junkies? And what is your opinion about milk in a warm drink? I am looking forward to your comments.
